During the government week that we passed, gas distribution operations to 8 cities and 1380 villages were started and the gas distribution projects of 11 cities and 1172 villages were launched, NIGC’s gas distribution director, Saeed Momeni announced.
“In the week also, more than 415 projects come into operation,” he added.
According to the report of the public relations of the NIGC, based on this, 350 thousand other households will be connected to the gas network over the next two years.
“Now 90 percent of Iran’s population is connected to the gas network, which comprises 96 percent of urban households and 72 percent of rural households,” Momeni stated.
He said that about 14000 villages had been connected to gas supply network up to 2013, adding that over the past four years, 9000 villages had been connected to the network.
Momeni stated that, today about 1100 cities and more than 23 thousand villages along with numerous numbers of power plants and vehicles take advantages of using this clean fuel.
The achievement in oil and gas industry during the past years are truly remarkable, but the most notable ones are gas distribution across the country which categorized as the outstanding achievements for gas industry. Gas distribution across the country is the strategy which formulates to improve the social and prosperity index in the country.
The efficient use of fossil fuels and replacing natural gas instead of the other oil products, the use of gas in power plants, meets the requirements of industrial units by gas, reduction of gas flaring, and creating the infrastructure for increasing gas export to promote social and economic welfare are the other achievements of gas industry.
