Iran has stored nearly 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas in Shourijeh and Sarajeh gas facilities in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21, managing director of National Iranian Gas Transmission Company (NIGTC), Saeid Tavakoli said.
The gas is being injected to the facilities for consumption during winter and enhancing production of the country’s oilfields, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.
In winter, NIGTC transfers 750 million cubic meters (MMcm/d) of gas per day across the country and withdraws 9 MMcm/d from Sarajeh during the cold snap.
The Sarajeh facility can store up to one billion cubic meters of gas. This is while Shourijeh facility can store up to 2.5 bcm in it.
Gas storage will continue until late November.
